Default stacking base gaskets?

im rebuilding my bike AGAIN, and the guy at the local shop said that a good trick is to put 2 cylinder gaskets on so it raised the cylinder and changes the port timing so you get motor top end power. anyone done it? also wouldnt that lower your comp?

Let's see what the builders have to say about it. I'm not going to agree with the double stacked gaskets.
You run chances of blowing one of those gaskets, leaning up the cylinder, loosing compression..
The gaskets measure what?? Some 15 thous?? It's definately going to effect current compression.
Just do it the right way... why not get it ported & mill the head? Get power everywhere!

I've got two gaskets and the spacer plate on my Blaster, one gasket and the plate measured 1.5mm for the offset of the stroker crank and I put in the regular gasket so?
If I ever get my extra cylinder to Denny for porting I'm going to have him adjust the port timing for the stroke and bring the piston to the top of the cylinder, it's down in the hole more than I think it should be, I want to get the quench to the MINIMUM, I figure 0 deck and the head gasket will be just right.

So yes it will advance the port timing and it will also lower the compression ratio!

I'm not really up on the two stroke port timing thing?, give me a four stroke and I'll get you some air threw it!!!!

in stoc kform o na blaster theres a negative deck height of .5mm theres about
.065 squish and a 24cc dome and the the transfers are not exposed at bdc by around .050 lots of problems with this setup ...makes lowend torqe anemic and topend almost just as weak running 2 base gaskets increases the squish clearance by about .020 and now your transfer bottoms are even further away from teh target opening now your stuck with .070 of the bore wal l for the fue lto smash into and not make use of for more transfer area .sadly thats good horsepower /torque just waiting to be used.the squish clearance will really suck and youll lose around 12 pounds of static compression the volume in your head will increase and burn rate will suffer your crankcase pressure will be reduced and your volume increases and chances of more air leaks increases .really theres nothing good about 2 gaskets unless theres a stroker wit hspacing issues involved.sounds like the mechanic in question built up a 79 firebird and thinks he is a pro tuner now lol
