| 10 years ago i had a 240 blaster, i bought the bike already built and it was cobbled up from alot of mismatched parts, ie... carb,pipe,etc.. not matched for a quality bike. i always loved that little quad, and would like to buy another and mod it myself this time.what is the best package or parts from filter to silencer and everything in between to build a rippin little engine? no race gas setups, premium pump gas only. oh another thing mine was an 88, but i see that the newer ones have hyd. disc brakes now, what year did that start? | anybody use a ct racing sonic kit? http://www.ctracing.com/blaster.htm how well does it run? faster than a 250? would the kit work with a vito's 3mil crank? |

| The CT sonic cylinder is the exact same cylinder as the LA sleeve one, just alot more expensive. DO not get CT porting I will tell you that now. but as far as the cylinder goes its the best one made for the blaster.

| so this is the same thing, just much cheaper? any sites that sell it even more cheap? http://www.lasleeve.cc/index.cfm?eve...roduct_ID=2020 and i looked at the floteck site, looks like good work, my old 240 had completely no porting and a fmf pipe, think thats why it was such a turd. | yeap its the exact same cylinder for alot less without the crappy CT work. haha yeah that would explain why your old blaster was a turd, an unported 240 and an FMF pipe arent much better than a stock blaster with bolt ons.

| those 240 kits are nice if you got the cash... if not send your stock motor out for some work and get that ported up... strokers are nice too but you gotta make sure you get the port work matched up and if your not gonna do it yourself prepare yourself cause its expensive... power pros, lrd, cpi all nice top end pipes... a 30 35 mm carb would be nice on a heavily ported engine... an after market airbox would be a plus 2 ... i don't like having my filter totally exposed... K&N or foam with prefilter... and definily some reeds...

| sounds like im gonna have to do this in steps, wife's already mad im getting a quad again, let alone dropping another 2g's in mods right away lol. so perhaps- 1. pipe, silencer, reeds at first. powerpro's and boyesen, or are there better reeds? 2.lightened flywheel and ignition mods if there are any? 3.bore,port work, carb or should i do a carb earlier? 4.stroke sorry bout all the questions, just like to be thorough! |

| sounds like your on the right track... pipe and reeds are a good first upgrade... that'll give you a nice improvement right off the bat... vforce 3's are really nice i've got them... i've been looking at the boysen for a while , but everyone says the v3's are better... and they are cheaper ... there is an ignition you can get its a Nology HotWire & Coil ... 150bucks and i havn't heard much about it... i 've had real good results with the stock coil and i run a heavily modded blaster... so idk if its really worth it... i wouldn't get the carb until you get your work done ... because you'll need to run them together for max performanc... and if you had to i'd wait till after you got your work done on the engine and pic up a carb later ... you can find a carb for cheap... 34mm run you around 120 or less.. and you can still run your stock carb till you get it... and whats cool when you do that is you get to feel the difference in the carbs... make sure you get a intake boot that'll fit the carb you go with too the stock one is wayy to small... and as for stroking you might wanna do that before you have your engine ported ... because when you do this, you'll have to take your motor totally apart and if you already your engine ported, you'll have to send it out to have it matched to the stroke, and ported again... which wouldn't make much sense ... so IMO this would be one of the first things you would want to do... that way your starting from the ground up and not having to do more work then needed by using a good foundation for your build... plus make sure you use new bearings and seals... and a good clutch after you start upping horses you'll start slipping bad if you don't have good stiff springs and new plates.... lol hope that helps a lil ... i learned alot the hard way and i know how important now a planned build is for time and your pocket book...
