| hmm....I'm no expert, but just an idea...maybe you (he) chipped a reed and the funny smell and smoke is the motor burning that little chunk of carbon-fiber. I've heard that breaking a carbon fiber reed won't hurt your engine internally cause it just burns up and is gone rather quickly. just what I've heard though. My buddy has a 97 WR250 andhe had a similar problem. Bike ran fine until the chipped reed came totally apart, then no more run. Just an idea though Last edited by DT250rider; 09-22-2004 at 02:35 AM. |

| it could have been slightly loaded up and since you said you dont rev it out he may have just blown the engine out for ya...proly some carbon and such around the exhaust manifold. if you still have compression and ur plug looks good then ur engine is good but like that other guy said you can always pull ur reed cage out and take a look at it......if your throttle responce is good i highly doubt there is anything a matter with the reeds. and oh....never let someone else on ur machine....thats rule #1 lol. |

| 870 is right never let some one other than yourself ride your bike. i dont know about you but i dont have insurence on my bike and let (he took it whithout my permition when i was gearing up) my buddy ride my 97 cr250 and he cold sezed it. it needed a new piston, rod, crank, bairings, and bore. and he said it wasent his falt!!! anyway you might of blown your head gasket. my bro did that on his 98 cr125.

| nah 370 i live on a dirt road and noone cares if i drag up and down it. The kid that i let ride it was the previous owner of the bike and hes a moto-cross racer and hes 3 years younger than me and he knows that i would make him pay for anything if he broke it. He hasnet ridden a 2-stroke bike in almost a year so i think he was a bit rusty. I have no idea what the problem was with it but im thinking that maybe the carb had oil buildup in it or the powervalves were a bit clogged. The bike runs really rich on castor 927 oil so maybe thats the problem.
