Banshee won't start..Please help..

K guys..I've tried and tried and the damn thing won't start.... My banshee will only start on a push start..it will turn on but it will ONLY stay on if I'm throttling it...Once I let go of the throttle it turns off...It also smokes out of my right pipe.. I've adjusted the carbs to 3 full turns as I was told on this website because someone tried stealing it and messed with them... I've checked my floats and they are fine.. They told me to check my sliders but I figured I would post a thread first to see if you can help or suggest anything else...I appreciate all the help. Thanks

If it will start on a push but not when kicked, I would check your compression... However if you know that it is carb then Id take the carbs all off and disassemble them and clean, check your jets and make sure they are within reason for your mods and reassemble, sinc them and try again, but I think Id check your compression if it is possibly that... hope this helps...

How exactly can I check my compression? I need to go buy a compression tester for this right?

ya or just take it to a local shop that has one. They will usually do it for next to nuthin, I broke down and bought one at sears for like $29. It was worth it. it is handy as hell....

Ok..so lets say my compression is ok... Why do u think my coolant sprayed out after only riding it around the block around 3 times.. It was so hot that the coolant came out of the overflow hose. Think it may be a blown head gasket? Thanks.

Yup, sounds like a blown head gasket to me. Ive had that happen many times to me. infact Im still trying to iron out my head gasket blowing problem...

hey dude b4 you go crazy and go through all that work make sure your flywheel key isnt sheared off. theres only a handful of reasons it will get hot that quick. could be lean, could have a bad gear on the water pump impeller, or could also be timing. make sure your throttle cable is not too tight also.it will not idle with the throttle cable too tight because the TORs will kill the motor. im betting you have a sheared timing key.

good call, That is a possibility. Head gasket still sounds most likely but I would def check these things before you pull your head. if nothing comes up then pull the head and if it is a head gasket you will see carbon on either the cylinder decking or the head where the exhaust was passing into the coolant. good luck...

def. check that impeller and gear first though. are you getting a hot radiator???? if not check that impeller
