| a 2 stroke is by far more fun then a 4 stroke.. there is nothing like hitting a power band and havein the tires pick off the ground.. my blaster is on its original top end.. its a 88. ive rode it just about every day for atleast an hour. some times 4-6 hours. hell i just got off of it to grab a bite to eat.. and i run the piss out of it.. wot everywhere. plannin it out in 6th gear down the rode daily and it still runs strong.. i run cheap valvoline 2 stroke oil with the oil tank.. i havent cleaned it in over a year.. the only thing ive done to it is clean the air filter.. runnin the same plug for about 9 months now.. its still a blast... great thing about a 2 stroke.. it cost about 150 buck to rebuild the top end.. your 4 stroke is gonna cost you alot more.. i mean alot more.. you better hope it dont screw up and slap a valve. one more thing.. my blaster used to rev out and not shut off like you said the bike did.. turns out like someone already said.. the throttle cable was crap.. figured that out when it snapped.. also i turned down the idle a little and now it never happens. | He really liked the TTR because it ran first kick all the time and now hes all pissed off because the YZ isnt as reliable and is worse on gas which I already warned him it would be bad on gas and unreliable and he didnt seem to mind at the time. I hope he just lets this issue go as I dont want to go to court over some stupid YZ. The guy says hes gonna call me again tonight to tell me whats going on. |

When your friend gets this yz going, your going to feel really bad trying to keep up with it......So you bought an ol school 2 stroke without any knowledge of how to properly tune or maintain it?, or any bike for that matter because they all need the same amount of attention even 4 pokes.....Now you act like 4 strokes are better, listening to your friends , 4stroke posers made you take a step backwards in my eyes...I do understand that you just want to ride , instant gratification , its cool but that girly bike you just traded for wont hold a candle to even a 125 2 stroke by any means.... 2 stroke can be VERY reliable if you know how to properly tune them and take care of them... For instance in my garage at this very point my friend has his 1994 kx125 that his parents bought him brand new in 94 , it is on the very same piston it came from the factory with..Cases have never been split, only clutch changes..I have helped him over the years tune and taught him how to do it himself...The bike is probably down on compression i haven't checked in a while but he goes out there every summer kicks that puppy over couple kicks and rides all summer....We were planning on doing a topend on it soon but it just runs so faithfully he don't want to yet.... Let me run this by you, a 2stroke will cost you about 10x less to rebuild if it blows up, so that gas money your saving, just put it in a jar somewhere because your going to need that plus alot more to rebuild that 4 stroke when it goes boom..Which it will all motor's do at some point... People were pointing you in the right direction here, there is tons knowledge on this board. Some bike are turds, 2 stroke or 4 stroke, people just don't know how to care for their machines.Maybe you had one in that yz, but you have never ridden until you have the rush of a properly running 2 stroke..
