on a 2stroke motor it wont tap out there is no rev limiter it this braps out

but aslo depends what mods u got on it

It is basic stock but I was trying to get a general l idea of rpms so I can figure gearing out

well u also need to take in account when ur power band kicks in but a 250 if i had to guess probally 9200 - 9500 if i had to guess

supposibly my 2000 yz250 revs to like 11500-12500 tops, so im guessing yours would be around there.

my guess would be 8500-9000 for most 250's... i dont know where the mis-conception that 2-strokes have endless revs came from... I hear about it all the time..

10k rpm is pushing it on a 250 2 stroke

Don't even need to rev to 10k rpm anyways, just because your revving high, doesnt mean your going fast. Going up a gear is better.

There are no rev limiters on 2 strokes...
How far they rev...just like where and how much power and torque they make is decided by several factors, including...but not limited to:

Porting
Exhaust
Intakes
Ignition Timing
Rotating Mass

My guess is mid 9K RPM...but probably stops making good power around 8 to 8500 RPMs. Dirt bikes are not dragsters, they need nice, linear power spread across a wide RPM range.

That's pretty much why the 4 pokes rule...they have that kind of power!
