Default yz250 wont start

i have a 99' yz250 with a procircuit pipe and fmf shorty silencer. air screw is turned 1 and 1/2 out and its jetted right and the top end was rebuilt not long ago. it runs fine since i took it out at the beginning of spring, and i went to start it up today and nothing. i kicked for a long time and checked the plug, seemed really oily. im gunna get a new plug and try a little leaner fuel mixture. mabe pilot jet clogged? HELP!

check the air filter and clean ur carb ,o and put some fresh gas in that always helps too

no i just checked it by pulling the plug and hooking it back into the cord, touched it to a bolt and gave it a kick and no spark. fouled plug?

Could be man I would check out all the wiring and make sure nothing has came disconnected or is grounding out on anything as well, and go from there but try a new plug for sure.

yeah tommorow im gunna try new plug, clean carb, fresh gas, a little leaner because it seemed like a little too much oil, and clean filter...hope it works


any other suggestions?

Nope I would do all that and give the wires a quick look then make sure that you are getting spark

i have one for a yamaha blaster, as long as its only plugged into the cable and not screwed into the engine it should be fine to check for spark?

You dont need a plug to check for spark, man up and stick a nail in the spark plug boot and hold it while kicking it, you'll know if it's sparking..lol, but seriously i have done this many many times, it will get your attention but you'll be fine.
