Default 2004 banshee TORS unit

question here....I noticed someone installed a TORS bypass/removal kit....how much do these cost and where do you get them ???? advantages or disadvantages.....the 2 screws on mine seem to be the only way to bring the idle down....and they sometimes....the right one.......works it way out 4 or 5 turns.....seems to idle best about one and a half turn out.....thanx

Vitos has a decent price on them I think, maybe wade too. AKA flattrack. Get rid of that shit on top the carbs its the only way to go.

I suggest you keep the TORS if you're an "average" rider and don't do a lot of rejetting on your Banshee. If you rejet your carbs a lot or start experience problems with the TORS (Throttle OverRide System or something like that) then you can remove it. Basically the system prevents stuck throttles and shuts off the quad in a rollover I think. People can correct me if I'm wrong.

It does not shut off the motor it will just limit the rev on the motor. Similar to when you have the parking brake on (if you still have that installed)

I got mine from ronneys.com you will want the throttle cable with TORS eliminators then you will want to get the Idle kit. You might want to have a shop install the idle bolts. You will have to drill the carb, thread the hole, and clean the inside of the carb. Depends on how good you are at working on that kind of stuff.

You can also just move right up to a set of 28mm mikuni for $250 or something like that.

The theory is that it prevents the engine from revving out and blowing up in a roll over. Well, here's a $20 simple solution.... TETHERED KILL SWITCH!!!!

I don't know if the same holds true for Banshee TORS, but on the Blaster they cause some REAL problems. For some reason when the gas tank is almost empty, the engine will rev uncontrollably and the only way to shut it down is to rip the plug wire off. I had it happen twice on one of my older ones before I explained it to the tech at my shop. He informed me that it's "JUST A TORS THING!" They don't work like they're supposed to, they make doing ANY work that involves the carb damn near impossible, and the idle adjustment is a joke.

As mentioned previously... if you are not the type of rider who tweaks with the carb very often then don't worry about it. But, if you do ANY work on that thing yourself, get an override kit.

The low gas high rev is not really a TORS issue it is a Low gas issue. When you are running out of gas your motor will get more air less gas. This causes it to rev out of control to the point nothing stops it except like you said pulling the plug. I think this is more of a single cylinder issues because I have never had it happen on my banshee.

I think rockymountainatv.com sells the complete kit for like $55, including the idle screws. I try not to promote ebay too much, but sometimes you can score stock carbs with the tors removal cheaper than you can buy the kit itself. I bought a set of tors removed carbs with the thumb throttle for $31 with free shipping and turned around and sold my tors carbs and the thumb throttle for over $60 separately.
Like someone above mentioned, a far better solution for roll overs or crashes is a tether switch.

definitley get the tors elimanator kit ,as said earlier its a pain in the ass to do jetting changes or any carb work and idle adjustmnet doesnt really work all that well.it leaks air around the caps and adds uneeded clutter and congestion also restricts air to your intake if you ram aired your lid like most people do. theres no advantage whatsoever to keeping it and that high rev when it runs low on fuel must be a single cylinder problem for sure ,lt250's and lt500's always do this and so do blasters .and if your scared of rollovers or stuck throttles ,sell your banshee and buy a 4 stroke or a bmx peddle bike.
