going from an 8 to a 9 plug is gonna make it harder to start when its cold...a 9 is a colder plug than an 8. I could be wrong, but those jets sound a little small for a bike with t5's. did you re-jet the carbs for the pipes and k+n's? it sounds like the pilot jets may be a little on the small side.

the dude I bought it from had the stock pipes on it....and gave me the T-5s....he had 250 jets on it....I put the T-5s on and have a set of 280 jets to install....currently the needles are set at 3....I bought a dyno-jet jet kit and am going to put there #280 jets in....should I use dyno-jet needles or the stock ????? also it was suggested I set the needles on the # 4 setting........does any of this have anything to do with the cold starting problem ????? thanx

YES!!!! if you put the t5's on it and did not re-jet the carbs, your asking for trouble, not only with the hard starting, but the extra exhaust flow and intake flow too with the k+n's is making the bike run lean, which is bad. go to www.toomey.com I thin kthey have a tech section where they will tell you some baseline jetting numbers for what you have. Or go there and get their phone number and give em a call. Toomey has real good customer service from what I've heard.
