| I just picked this up today and its going to need a few things to be driveable again. So far its going to need a clutch cable and front brake lever. The tires need to be aired up a bit, and a few other minor stuff, but she does run ![]() Its got a Pro-Circuit pipe and aluminum silencer, and a bunch of stickers of other performance stuff in the engine, but I'm not sure if it was done. A few questions though.. These bikes are pre-mix right? No oil injection? Is the Pro-Circuit pipe any good? What is a good mixture to use if its not oil injection? Where does it help with power? Anything else I should know about these bikes? Oh yeah, and what color should I paint it? The white looks pretty bad and its chipping.. I was thinking classic YZ490 yellow, but who knows. Let me know what you guys think ![]() Jake Last edited by jaykup; 04-21-2005 at 02:36 AM. |

| Thats a damn big bike for a new rider. Looks good though little cleanup work and it will look brand new. The PC pipe is pretty good for dirtbikes I know a bunch of people that run them. Like Kane said run your oil to what the bottle of oil says. If you get Amsoil Dominator it runs at 50:1

| That is a Great find....All I can say is hold on...If that thing is tuned right and running at its potental you'll get hurt some time with it the YZ comes on the pipe real hard and may just walk out from under your ass. Been there done that...

| Thanks for the input It idles, but doesnt want to rev much. Its like it runs out of power, fast. It will idle all day, but as soon as you give it some gas, it revs a bit, and just sits there bogging down, till it finally dies. I let it warm up a lot, but it didn't seem to help. I thought it was not getting enough gas (jet clogged or something) so i tore the carb apart, and everythign was very clean, the main jet wasnt clogged, or even dirty. It was pinging a lot at idle too, so I think I will change the gas in the tank to some 93 octane, just to be sure. Then again most 2-strokes have a slight ping, and it is a biiig motor. Any suggestions? Its got good compression (hard as hell to kick) so I'm not sure what else it could be. I didn't check the plug though.. |
