| You are wasting your time with pictures, for one the intake is only part of where the power lies and by part I mean less than the rest. People post picture of the intake because it looks pretty and thats where most people get thier impression of a port job, Seriously thats how companies like CT keep getting people to send them stuff to port. If you want to port your own cyinder you are going to have to go out and put the time into the research to do it correctly and not look at a pic of a intake. People who have put this time in are not going to just tell you exactly what to do, and even if they did you will need the equipment anyway. My advice pay the money and have someone else do it unless you are really willing to put in the effort. |

| yep..... porting is time consuming and tedious.. i'm just starting to get into it... but i have help from a couple guys.... and believe me their pones have been ringing a buit the last few days haha... also porting alone doesn't make big HP numbers.. you need the bolt ons the work with your porting.... you don't wanna port with a high exhaust duration and use a FMF pipe... what exactly arwe you runnign now??? that the big question about porting.. if you have a toomey B1 a FMF or a DG.. then don't even port it.. |

| haha anybody want a dg head pipe? its a bit dirty and some surface rust but its a great stock replacement! I"ll sell if for real cheap if anyones interested

| thats right....just cause your cylinder has the ability to suck in and let out this extra fuel and exhaust doesn't mean the rest of the parts can keep up....or that its doing it at the right time...when your talking 2-stroke, they're real finicky. it does so much in such a small amount of time compared to a 4-joke, that everythings gotta be just right or you'll be pissin in the wind. you can't just go into the cylinder and make the holes bigger, theres a LOT more science to it than that. And i'll be the first to tell you that I don't know shit about porting. I can tell you what it does and how it does it to a point, but I can't tell you the road to take to get there, know what I'm saying?

| thats why Nick said that just doing the intake isn't gonna get you anywhere. theres a bunch of people around here that could go on for days giving advice and this and that. But these guys just aren't gonna tell you how to do it. its a trade secret sorta thing. Trial and error....well not really error, but say you port something and it doesn't really work quite how you were hoping, so next time your not gonna do the exact same thing....personally I think is about the most "scientific art" you'll ever come across....

| LEt me lay this whole thing on the line for every one. There are two different ways to classify a two stroke engine builder you have your Porters and you have your engine designers. A porter is the guy that says send me your top end and I'll port it for you. Now you will get a noticeable difference in power but is it what you want. Its cheaper that way most of the time and should be all your getting is a basic port job.. An engine designer Is the guy that wants your whole motor or at least Cases and crank assembly along with the top end and ask what your looking for out of that motor and sets you up with the total package..TO get the performance you want or should I say need . To have an engine designed is not cheap. there is a lot of time involved in the process...For instance For me to do a cheap port job on just about any 2stroke is 150.00-200 per jug now are you getting the most out of that cyl HELL no and that dose not include re chambering the head or any thing..I have a shee motor that just came yesterday for a complete design for TT racing that will be set up so the power band is all most not even noticeable just a smooth pull bottom to mid with a lot of low end torque..Cost for me to build this motor..Not Cheap! But on the other hand it will do exactly what the customer wants it to. And when he gets it back it will be a total package and I get to spend a weekend in NY installing and tuning this thing. How much time is involved in a motor like this 40+ hours....
