Unhappy 1977 Enduro 100

Help! I have a yamaha 1977 enduro 100 that needs some mending. It has a throttle cable that splits into 2. 1 goes to carb #2 goes to oil pump. The carb is missing top screw in assembly and I'm thinking of doing away with the resevoir and using premix fuel and buying a new carb. Is this a mistake that I ll regret for eternity or is it the best solution to get this dual stroke back in action, any ideas would be appreciated or advice from any who have done this conversion. Thanks.

Get rid of the oil injection and pre-mix it. where the oil line goes into the cylinder (right side of jug near the reed cage) take the bolt out, get the oil line out of there, red loctite the bolt and screw it back in. take the oil pump cover off and plug the line, or remove the line alltogether if you can. Make sure you at least plug it, you'll have a big mess until the oil system gets pumped dry. Pull the oil tank out and drain it. You can leave the throttle cable hooked up to the pump. I just left mine and it seems to work OK, I didn't feel like messing with getting a cable just yet. I need to get the top end redone on mine.

i've got a 72 yamaha dt 125 that had oil injection. just cut and pluged the lines and used the stock carb with premix and it ran fine. i did't want to trust a 30 year old pump!!

Exactly...my DT hadn't been started in years when it was given to me. The first thought I had was Its gonna start right up, and then explode from no oil...haha

77 enduro, likely a DT100? I have an 80 model. Nice bikes. You'll find a carb easier and cheaper on Ebay than you will just the top. Many of the various 80-125's Yamaha produced from 74-81 used the same type/size carb with jetting changes per model. Another cool thing, they were so mass produced that finding parts for them is relatively easy. As everyone else already said, get rid of that oiler.

You have to remember those old injectors are pumping at 20:1 most likely so you put a good oil in there like amsoil or even yama crude and your going to be majorly rich
