| Actually, they're comparing todays high-performance 4-strokes to the basic 2-strokes. The 250 4's can easily build 40+hp but it isnt cheap. The average 2-stroke 250 puts out between 40-50hp stock and can be built up much more easily and cheaper. The old days of saying double the CC's on a 4-stroke to match a 2-stroke are over. It's a lower figure with the new higher-revving 4-strokes. They'll never really match the 2-stroke but thats only due to the increased rotating mass and complexity coupled with a few extra pounds. But it doesnt really matter in the long run......the fastest and most powerful have always been and will always be electric. Some day, the greenies will eventually win and the arguements will be "which is faster, Duracell or Energizer?". |
