Question Open airbox on Banshee

Just wanted to get some oppinions from y'all on open airbox for serious trail riding. I have a K&N filter with outerwear, so most dirt and particles can't get in there. My only concern is being in the deep wood where there is bound to be deep mud and water possibly causing problems. Any feedback would be great.

TIA

you plan on being in water over the seat?? thats how deep youi'd have to be for it to come in through the air box lid. hell youd silencers would be bout 8 inches under water by that point. i'd be more worried bout my tommeys then if i got a little water in teh air box. oh yeah just take teh drain plug out of the bottom then teh water would just run out before it got picked up by the filter

With the Reeds and boost bottle I had to go to a no air lid config. I have not had any issues as of yet.

I highly recommend the Toomey 2:1 filter. Only costs about $50 with the outerwear fro Rocky Mountain and I noticed a huge power gain from stock. Just move the coolant bottle to the front of the frame by the bumper and you're good to go. And don't worry about water or mud unless you regularly ride thru water well over the footpegs. In fact I think an exposed filter is safer and less prone to water getting in the motor than the stock box or open lid configurations.
Besides you can always sell the stock box on ebay and get some of your money back

I run a K&N with the lid off. In EXTREMELY dusty track conditions I've run into problems with the engine being choked by the amount of dirt on the airfilter. This only happened once to me. I even had an outerwear on.

I've never had a serious problem with water and I go through creeks regularly. A little gets in the airbox from splashing around but no big deal.
