Yz250 Year Make

I just got a YZ250. I need to order parts for it but there is no plate on the bike with the year. The only thing I can find is this number on the motor
39X-000765. It is an old bike. Maybe in the 80's. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call any Yamaha dealership, ask for the parts counter, then give them your engine or frame number. They'll give you the year in about 3 seconds.
