Default YZ250 Problem

First post here, Id just like to say this is a great forum lots of really good information.

I have a 2002 Yz250 and as soon as i get into 5th gear it starts jerking under acceleration and not under steady speed, any suggestions to what this could be?

Thanks

EDIT: I forgot to mention that my fmf pipe doesnt seem to be seating very well and some smoke will come out of the gap during start up could this be the issue?

Default Same problem here.

Also my first post. Also wanna say great site!

I actually signed up just for the same problem that you are having.

I have an '03 YZ250 and as soon as I get into 5th gear is starts jerking. It's gotta be a motor problem, not tranny. Everyone I have talked to so far says it's either electrical or intake. If anyone knows, please reply.

Thanks for any help fellow 2-strokers!

the pipe thing isn't an issue, thats really more of an annoyance. it sounds like a fuel issue to me. does it do it all the time in 5th or just when your hard on the throttle?

Default interesting

so you had to split the cases which is where cost could be an issue? where did you get the gears with the stronger alloy? thanks for replying.

Yeah parts wise it wasnt so bad i just went to my local dealer and got an aftermarket 3rd/5th i'm not home right now so i cant give you the exact part # etc. But to do it myself i was looking around 250ish (New Seals,Gasket,Fluids,Gear)CDN dollars so hope that helps.
