20 (tire height) x 10 (tire width) x 9 (rim diameter).

20x11x9 should be fine, I've run that size in the Shredders before and they worked great.
At the moment I'm running 22x11x9 Kenda Klaws and I love them, they are 6-ply and I'm using them for fast cross country racing. (Little on the heavy side tho')
If ground clearance isn't an issue where you ride, then stick with 22x11x9, depending on the terrain, you might want to consider the ply rating to avoid sidewall punctures.
All of the top names are good when new, Holeshot, Razrs, Klaws, Shredders etc.

Thumbs up

We have some shredders on a Tecate 3 and they work well. I agree with ehall1 any of the top names will satisfy you. I have Holeshot XCR's and I like them, but they are a little on the pricy side. I'd look for 6 ply if you don't want to keep throwing plugs in your tires.

Default tire sizes

ok if mine are 20x10x9 then i can use 22x11x9? i could really use the extra 2 inches of ground clearance and the extra 1 inch of width cause the trails i ride are rutted some and rocky so i sometimes hit the axle skid plate right? thanks ed

Yep, just remember that increasing the rear tire outer diameter will change your gearing. If your bike has sufficient balls to pull the higher gearing then it shouldn't be a problem!

thanks JJ. mines pretty much completely stock with low hours and i dont think it has much low end grunt. so going to 22s it"ll probably seem even slower right? if so ill probably stay with 20x11x9"s. not really concerned about the extra top speed i should see. would 21x11x9"s change it wered i"d really notice it? any inputs better then none, thanks Ed

Ed, there's a huge difference in effective gear ratio's by going up in tire diameter from 20 to 22"
You can negate the effect by going down to a 13 tooth front sprocket, which will bring you closer to the stock ratio. A taller gear ratio will give you much less wheel spin, and I prefer a taller than stock gear, but not sure if your bike has the balls to do the business...
Here's an example of theoretical top speeds calculated at 9000rpm & 41 tooth rear sprocket with the different tire and front sprocket combinations:

14 tooth sprocket + 20" tires @ 9000 rpm = 72.8mph
13 tooth sprocket + 22" tires @ 9000 rpm = 74.4mph
14 tooth sprocket + 22" tires @ 9000 rpm = 80.0mph
(That was painfull, it's all metric on this side of the globe... )

As you can see the difference in gearing by changing from 20" to 22" tires, is huge if your sprockets remain unchanged.

You only gain 1 inch, think about it...

yeah right now im completely stock so i dont wanna lose the low speed balls it has, so ill probably just stay with stock height and go the one inch wider for now. thanks i appreciate the math too thanks Ed

yeah you'll only gain an inch. i run 20's on my banshees and they are fine. 22's will make the back taller also. the 20x11x9's are good for a shee be it stock or modded
