First of all, it doesnt matter whether they're going to build them until 2099 or stop production tomorrow. The aftermarket and OEM parts availability will be quite strong enough to support your needs for the next 50yrs easy.

Sure, a 2-stroke requires frequent rebuilding. But consider the inexpensive parts involved. A chrome bored cylinder can withstand 4-5 ring sets without needing repair, a steel sleeve should be bored after no more than 2 (generally). Many rebuilds only require a ring set and a gasket set. Some obviously require more. The skills needed are far less than those required to work on a 4-stroke, and paying a shop to do said repairs is a hell of a lot cheaper for the 2-stroke as well.

I don't think you'll be rebuilding "all the time" and gaskets/ring changes are not hard at all and a pretty cheap fix. The yz125 is a great bike also Yamaha for life.

you can still grow.. yeah there are somethings you can do to make the bike lowr to the ground as well.. i'd say a 125 or 250 would be fine for ya..

what do you plan on using it for? like just trail riding or competitions?

a 125 will be fine for now, but if you grow you'll want the 250
