Default New to E2S

Just sayin hi! I came across the site on a google search, and it seems as though Ill be able to find some useful info in here . I have an '03 YZ250. I JUST got the thing, rode it for one day at the track without a problem, then the next time out, it managed to blow a hole in the piston. Thanks to that, the cylinder needed to be resleeved, and it (obviously) needs the piston. A quick question I'll throw out to anyone (without searching cuz I'm damn tired lol). The valve assy. in the cyl... If that was scoured in the process of the piston taking a crap, can it be fixed by means of filing it down to get burrs off of it, or does it need to be 100% replaced? Prob a dumb question, but hey, I'm new to the sport :p . Anyways, Hi once again!

for one the cylinder is nickasil plated.. $250 ish. and i don't think the PV will get the brunt of it... i'd recomend replacing it if it is bad...

welcome
i personally wouldnt file anything down on the PV, unless particals of the piston is stuck to it those should be taken off, but i doubt any damage was done to it to have to replace

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the useful info! Im going to be taking a closer look at the PV when I get the engine back from the machine shop. BTW, MX86, They are putting a sleeve in the engine to solve the scouring prob They told me they couldnt do a bore job on it because of the plated finish.

are they replating it? or just the sleeve? i'd say that would run a lot hotter then just replating the cylinder....

Yeah, It was resleeved, and in theory it is going to run hotter... I just have to get it started now. I dont think im getting any fuel to the cylinder, and I cant figure it out!
