i have seen a functional R1 motor in a quad but it was in a banshee on stock R1 gearing and worked fine now a blaster would need heavy modifications now for tha price of an R1 motor u might as well get a busa engine but for ur frame ur better off using an R6

well dnt know bout an r1 n a blaster but i know a guy who has a 600 ninja motor on a quadracer and it is geared way down w 18" rear tires to help, and he still goes over90mph easy, it was a project that he adopted and said it was really impractical and the extra weight he had to make new shock brackets and shocks

It can be done but the frame will have to be strentghned and choped and welded to fit the motor. It will have to geared way down to even consider riding it. You should steer away from the +6 swing arm. A more realistic swing arm would have to be around +14 to even consider this thing ridable. I personaly would stray from this build because the blaster is just too small of a wheel base to put the power to the ground, You will most likely in a drag race still get beat by a modded banshee.

Not to hijack your thread but here is a picture of the quad my dad is building right now. Its a chromoly frame that he built, the suspension geometry is the same as an 89 250r. The mill is a 2005 CBR 1000RR. I imagine you would be better off building a frame for that motor, they are big and heavy. I think my dads engine weighs 135lbs.

Default waste of $$ and time.

Word to the wise DONT DO IT.

i have ridden the R1 as a bike... and leave it in the bike or make a buggy.
100+hp in a wheeler is just plain dumb.

in a wheeler it would only be good for straight drags if you have a 12 foot swing arm out the back of a damn blaster, use the bombardier DS660 to do this mod iof you still have the hard on after you get done thinking this though.

i am in the finishing parts of a YZ250 blaster conversions. this motor is already 20+ hp better than a stock motor.

it also has the goofy gearing that you would want to do so go out and find the 95 yz250 bike and grab the engine cut the swing arm on the blaster line up the sprockets weld in some new front engine mounts, cut the pipe to fit, mount the raditors and fill it up with gas.

total weight of mods + liquids 75lb (just guessing)
total weight of the R6, R1 engine alone 135lb

have fun

I know of 2 machines close to me. 1 is a banshee R6 and the other is a zilla R1. They make nice drag machines and hill climbers but realisticly you can do better on a shee. At quadfest the zilla won the drags, barely. Denny would have got him I think if he would have had time to setup a little better

offtopic but i figured id jump in and say that this coming year i will definilty be burning methanol instead of 100 octane race gas ... and i now run a really sweet shifting 1-5 override tranny ,full throttle wfot shifts with no clutch! so i think the little 358 cub is going to do some serious damage come july 08' i know i can atleast get the R6 banshee now
