tri moto 175 starting problem

i have a 83 tri moto 175 that wont stay running. it ran a week ago and stalled on me .now the only time it will start is if it sits over night and will start on the first or second pull but then dies after about thirthy seconds. i have spark and seem to be getting fuel. After a while it does backfire when continuoulsy trying start and the pull cord snaps back.Was wondering if it could be the timing if someone could help me out that would be great

when it is running does it sound normal?
