Banshee engine case help

My friend 8-ball bought a 97' banshee, the guy told us when we looked at it that instead of putting the 97 motor together ( bc it was in pieces ), that he bought a complete engine off a 2000, well when I came over to help 8-ball with the shee, I noticed the cdi box has the newer style connectors, and I looked down at the stator wires, and they are all spliced..like as if someone had an old motor and spliced the newer style connectors onto it so it would hook up with the newer cdi box, ..then I was helping him take the clutch cable off, and I noticed that on the top half of the engine case where the tach or speedometer cable and bolt went into the cases on an old Rz350 streetbike ( correct me if im wronge, im not sure ), well it wasnt like other banshee cases, there was plugs in both of the holes, they look like they were made to be there, but I pulled the little plug out, and its threaded and everything, unlike either of my 2001 or 1998 shee's, so are these old cases?? Because when he bought it he told us he bought a 2000 motor..idk,.. 8-ball is going to post up some crappy pix I took with my cell phone, Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

yeah the build is still going decent.. I got to thinking maybe he even used the stator from the 97

I'm almost positive those cylinders and the head (the stock one that you now have) is from the 97 also.. I think he bought the bottom end and put those cylinders on it and bought that cool head....sounds like a likely story and can someone run motor vins..I know it starts out with the same 3GG as my 97 motor does...

If someone can run the motor vin pm me and I can send it to you.


(Oh and speaking of the plugs not on your's they are also not like that on my 97 case.. banshee's have a solid perm plug)

OHHH.. and for the record.. he is just helping not doing like he did on the blaster.. I'm actually doing a lot on this shee by myself

yeah i have no clue why that hole is there, does it go all the way through?
if so it might have been a spot where someone put a temp guage for tranny temp, dont know why they would though

well hell if it is that place the tach for the bike went I shall be putting one on mine lmfao...

Nah I really would b/c I'm annoyed about it right now so if it was one of the actual streetbike motors (yeah i know same things but they have differences such as this being solid plug or not) .. but if it is the bike motor I'd have to put a compact tach on it just to make myself happy..
