Default K&N adapter or new foam filter

I have a K&N and an outerwear with it with no adapter sitting in a stock air box. From a lot of other forums people say K&N sux and should switch. I was thinking of either getting an adapter to mount to my airbox or get a dual stage UNI foam filter and run it in my stock air box. Of course if I switch to a foam filter I will lose all my power and don't even want to think of running without a lid. If I do get a UNI foam filter I would want to know if anyone has experience and what to jet to. But what should I do in order to avoid rebuilding my motor again?

when i ditched the lid, instead of bying a clamp on kit or whatever there called all i did was run a dry wall screw threw the stock white plastic piece that the air filter clamps on to into the air box right into the air box...the screw is like right on top centered going from inside the box out....yea its kind of a git 'r dun kinda thing but works fine...

yea thats kinda a good idea but is only really securing the foam around the entering of the air box. The only thing that is holding the white plastic to the K&N is a clamp which is useless cause dirt would go right through. But good idea any it is kinda like a git'r dun 5 min job but works.

Go with a Uni single stage and an Outerwear. The dual stage wont flow enough air even if you vent your lid. Personally I say you should ditch the lid, I have a feeling you will eventually anyway.

Actually that is probably not in my mind because I needed a new top end due to riding with no lid. Thanx for the suggestion but I think the most I'll do is take the snorkel out which I already have. I have one question will the K&N adapter fit inside of a K&N power lid?

Get a foam filter and clean/oil it regularly. I would take your air box lid and cut as much out as you can without ruining the brackets. Then put and outerwears pre-filter over your air box and clamp the lid back on. This will let the beast breathe and still protect it from dirt and water.
