if i remember right, on my yz250 you had to pull back the spring and plastic retainer, then push the cable down just a fraction of an inch, then slide it over and it should pull right out

On alot of the carbs ive worked on(mostly roundslide tho) you have to remove that plate at the bottom of the slide, then push down on the carb and to the side and it comes right off. My Cousins RM was a flatside and it was the exact same concept. Just my two cents.
