86 BW 80.... need help?

i have an 86 BW 80..... the transmision was slipping in and out of gears, so i pulled the cover to inspect it.... the little spring loaded arm that touches the "shifting wheel" witch had broken, and was allowing the wheel with the pegs on it to spin freely..... i have replaced that and put it back together... this little motercycle is an automatic 3 speed.... and now it shift great through the gears.... but when you try and put it in first, the engine dies emediatly.... its like the clucth fully engages the second you shift, and it lugs forward a bit, an turn the bike off emediatly... it used to sit there whne it was in first, and it wouldnt take off until you give it the gas.... its gota be push started to ride it, cause the clutch is like stuck in? any help? what could be causing this?

Do they have an adjustment for the centrifugal clutch like the Hondas do?

im not sure? where would i find this adjustment?..... thanks for the help by the way...

On the Hondas its on the right side case by the kicker.

nope! i checked.... there is no clutch adjustment on the outside of the case cover.... i have no idea why its doing this... im pretty sure there is no adjustment for these kind of clutches... its idling as low as it will go, and still it dies...

Hey I have your *exact* same bike!
Never experienced what you mention though, sorry.
I have a service manual on CD and owners manual.
Let me know if you need me to look something up for you.
Complete BW's are hard to find these days....

no thanks bro..... thanks for the offer though... i might hit you up on the manual offer thiving that though.... i used to ahve another complete BW 80, with a blown top end.... i had a hell of a time giving that thing away.lol.... i finaly ended up throwing it away.....

for future reference, i figured out what was wrong with it! the last guy who owned it, added an extra cluth plate when he rebuilt it.... the damn thing was way too stiff.... i looked at a skamatic online, and was able to see there were too many in the clutch basket.... i gues we coudlnt tell that the clutch was so stiff, cause the transmission was so messed up.... it is fixed now, and works absoluetly great!!!!!! thanks for the help guys....
