yz250 wierd noise

my 99 yz250 is making some weird vibrating clank noise that its never made before around the motor area, its not crazy loud. recently jetted it lean but there are no signs of piston damage or broken piston skirts. checked for loose bolts or anything loose and nothing, any ideas? full compression too

Maybe probs in the crank area? Bearings or wear, too much play in the rod??

You could pull off the top end, you'll have play in the rod from left to right.. Get some feeler guages & manual to make sure that play is within spec.
If it's something huge and the clanking is in the crank, then you'll notice it right away, look around in the case for loose bearings, scuffs etc...
I believe that's as much as you can do withought tearing the motor apart...

I would also pull both case covers off to make sure nothing is loose in the flywheel or clutch area!

its kind of random, i let it idle for a minute and ever once in awhile it makes the noise and its seems to come from the back of the bike and the motor i cant figure it out

let it idle, warm up and come to opperating temp.

then check and see if the noise is coming from the clutch side or flywheel side.

and it's not the side to seide play your worried about. but if the connecting rod has play up and down, bad things may happen.

yeah im hoping its just some random vibration cuz i dont have a lot of experience with the motor so i would have to have a shop guy do it and it would cost a lot. ill check tommorow and let u know where its coming from

try making sure tha flywheel is nice and tight mines started making wierd noises and vibrating real bad and thats what happened
