Front Axle

Hey guys, I put a set of 83 YZ 490 Forks on my 83 It490. My stock front axle was too short with the new forks, so I bought one from a an 83 YZ 490, it does not fit either. Do any of you know where I can get an axle that will fit? This is getting frustrating because I can't even ride the bike right now.
