Oil Change Information

I have a banshee that I just bought, the oil was really dirty. I asked the yamaha dealer for the best oil, and they gave me benzyl (something like that) transmission oil (Gear Saver - for 2 stroke engines). I don't like the ideal of using this, because it says transmission oil on the bottle. What should I be using, the bike doesn't seem to like it, It's riding real crappy.

I would look at the Amsoil Product or Klotz. When you say running crappy what do you mean. Clutch slipping?? or running rough???

If the oil was dirty you should change the oil then after a day of riding change it again. Then ride it a few days and change it keep backing off your changing days till you see it coming out clean. The worst thing for a lower end is dirty.

like banshee said klotz is an ex. product.I still swear by gear saver in clutches.after running about 20-25 races sat night I just changed all bikes oil and all but one came out almost as red as when it went in.as for the one that wasent the clutches are going to go out soon!

someone told me to use castrol gtx 10w-40.

That would work but I prefer to use something that is formulated for ATV's like Amsoil and Klotz

I run amsoil gear lube in my 86LT. When I put it in it was like a night and day difference. It shifts so much smoother than before. I would use the amsoil or Klotz.

I changed the oil yesterday and ran it for 45 minutes. What's the chances of really doing damage to the engine in that time. If I change it before I ride will it be OK?
